The Story Behind the Portrait of The Woodcarver
This portrait was a real collaboration. Most, if not all
of the reference material was provided by the subject.
The man pictured is an artist and a woodcarver. He designs
and carves old west characters, usually in humorous or comedic
scenes.
He sent the photograph to me pretty much as it is. I merely
moved a few background items around and cropped it to make
a more interesting composition.
The photographer is the subject.
If you look closely in his left hand, he is holding between
his thumb and finger a black disc. That is the remote control
for the camera, a Nikon D70.
